Dear All, I seem to have typed the phrase ‘Happy New Year’ many times this week but I’m conscious that for many of us this is a hugely frustrating time and that we might, like the psalmist, feel like saying ‘How Long oh Lord?’ as we long for change. I took some comfort from 1 Corinthians 4:19 this week which reminds us that ‘The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of Power. It’s important to remember that whatever we read in the media or hear in the street, however many words we have to wade through in our work, God is still with us in power and we can draw on that power to calm us, encourage us comfort us and to enable us to reach out to others with God’s love. Connecting with that power couldn’t be simpler…we just ask God to ‘help us and use us; every day. So I wish you not so much a Happy New Year but a blessed, fruitful and powerful year in Christ as we commit to him again and remind ourselves of his covenant of love with us. Rev Jenny Porterpryde |
